Category: Accident
A Tu-154 experienced a significant loss of control during approach to Chita-Kadala, resulting in a forced landing. The aircraft deviated significantly from its planned glide path, leading to a touchdown at a low altitude. The tail section broke off, and gear struts collapsed, impacting the landing surface. An analysis indicates a potential issue with the aircraft’s center of gravity, which contributed to the instability.A Tu-154 experienced a significant loss of control during approach to Chita-Kadala, resulting in a forced landing. Description

The Tu-154 came in well above the glide-path on finals to Chita-Kadala and was ‘forced down’ by the pilot, touching down 240 m before the runway threshold. The tail broke off and the gear struts collapsed as a result. It appeared that the centre of gravity was too far forward.
