Description
Shijiazhuang Y-5 registered 8025 was destroyed when it flew into a 2590-meter-high mountain named Hou’erbao on the Gansu side close to the Gansu-Sichuan border. The aircraft was on an aeromagnetic survey flight with four crew members and three geophysics specialists on board. Contact with the plane was lost at 10:32. The accident location had not been located until July 1968 because of its remoteness. It was determined that the crash was most likely a CFIT accident. Contributory factors included cloudy conditions and the grossly inaccurate topographic map of the area.
