Incident Overview

Description
At 09:20, the Shijiazhuang Y-5 registered 7571 took off from Xupu Airfield to drop 12 parachutists on an airshow that celebrated the tenth anniversary of the inception of the county-level city Jishou. Over the performance area, lubricating oil was seen leaking out from the plane. Eight parachutists left the plane while the crew changed the heading to return to the departure airfield. At 10:20, the engine vibrated heavily, so the crew shut it down and prepared for a forced landing. The remaining four parachutists also bailed out to safety. At 10:23, the Shijiazhuang Y-5 crash-landed on terraces and was irreparably damaged. The two pilots received slight injuries. The accident occurred because of the aging and rupture of the oil return pipe in the lubricating oil system, which led to the leakage and complete loss of lubricating oil during flight.
