An aircraft experienced severe turbulence approximately 30 nautical miles west of Oshima VORTAC following the activation of the seatbelt sign. Description
The aircraft encountered severe turbulence at FL290 about 30 nm west of Oshima VORTAC. Turbulence was encountered shortly after the seat-belt sign was turned on. FDR analysis revealed that the aircraft encountered turbulence varying from minus 1.10 to plus 1.76 g and lasted about two seconds.
