Description

The Lockheed PV-2D Harpoon crashed on Phou Fa after its tailplane broke away while in flight. The plane was dropping supplies of rice for the government forces and refugees. Two of the crew aboard were killed. Associated Press reported the plane crash from Vientiane on October 2 (Monday); the date of the incident was reported on Sunday (October 1). The former Navy Harpoon was a roller-floor cargo conversion for CIA supply drops in Laos.
