Description

The C-47 operated on a paratrooper mission during Operation Market Garden. The airplane was heading home after dropping 20 paratroopers when it was likely hit by ground fire. ‘Stand By’ was damaged over Groesbeek and was claimed shot down by Flak units 3./- and 4./202 and 6./815. The pilots ditched the aircraft.
