Description
China Southern Airlines flight 3534, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, received notable structural damage in a hard landing and tailstrike accident on runway 02L at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China.There were no reported personal injuries. Preliminary information suggests that the copilot had moved from flying ERJ-190 aircraft to the Boeing 787 and was undergoing line training with the captain being an instructor, Reportedly the copilot was Pilot Flying and a manually flying the aircraft in the final stages of the approach. The aircraft is understood to have sunk fast before touching down at a pitch attitude of 5 degrees and a vertical load of 1.36G. The copilot selected the thrust reversers. The aircraft the bounced to a height of about 3 feet. The crew continued to pull the stick back and the second touchdown pitch attitude was 7.6 degrees, and the vertical load was 2.47G.
