An Antonov 2R biplane crashed in the Aksy district of Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the deaths of all three crew members. The aircraft was operating a fumigation flight to combat locusts on a hillside, and it contacted power lines at a height of 15 meters when flying into the sun. The accident was caused by a combination of factors: the crew’s attention was diverted from monitoring for obstacles in the flight path, and a lack of recommendations for flight crew regarding fumigation flights over hilly terrain without obstacle markings, combined with the airplane flying directly towards the sun, which led to the collision with transmission lines. An Antonov 2R biplane crashed in the Aksy district of Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the deaths of all three crew members.
