On October 26, 2008, a hijacker hijacked a Lufthansa aircraft during a takeoff near Frankfurt. After landing at Tempelhof Airport, West Berlin, the hijacker removed a hand grenade from the rear of the aircraft and ordered the crew to fly to Tempelhof. Subsequently, the hijacker surrendered to U.S. authorities and was turned over to German authorities in West Berlin. Description
About five minutes after take off the hijacker removed a hand grenade from the rear of a portable radio, went to the cockpit and ordered the crew to fly to Tempelhof Airport, West Berlin. After landing at Tempelhof the hijacker surrendered to U.S. authorities. Later he was turned over to German authorities in West Berlin. Sentenced by West Berlin court to 5-1/2 years.
