A minor damage occurred to the right wing actuator arm mounting hardware during a passenger transport flight over the Andes due to severe turbulence. Description

Minor damage due to turbulence at FL310 over Andes. Cause During a regular passenger transport flight, during the cruise phase in conditions of severe turbulence, fracture of the right wing actuator arm mounting hardware, due to a stress corrosion mechanism that had previously weakened the part. Contributing Factors 1) Lack of proper maintenance on the right wing components. 2) The additional effort exerted on the surfaces of this command to maintain control of the aircraft.
