National Airlines flight 1439 from New York to Miami via Tampa was hijacked after takeoff from Tampa by a man, carrying a .45 caliber automatic and what seemed to be a hand grenade. He demanded to be flown to Cuba. The aircraft made a refueling stop at Key West, Florida.
