A Saurya Airlines CRJ-200ER aircraft crashed on takeoff from runway 02 at Kathmandu Airport, Nepal, resulting in the deaths of 18 of 19 occupants. The aircraft was en route to Pokhara for maintenance, including aircraft maintenance engineers and airline staff. Video footage shows the aircraft descending in a right-wing low attitude before striking the ground, bursting into flames. Description
A Saurya Airlines Canadair CRJ-200ER has crashed on takeoff from runway 02 at Kathmandu Airport, Nepal, killing 18 of the 19 occupants. The aircraft was being flown to Pokhara for maintenance ( C-check ). Among the passengers were aircraft maintenance engineers and airline staff and one child. Videos from the accident sequence shows the CRJ-200 descending in a right-wing low attitude before it struck the ground, bursting into flames. The aircraft came to a stop 200 m to the right of the runway centreline.
