An Antonov aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff into an open field within the Golfe II district of Luanda, approximately 5 kilometers from the airport runway. Eyewitnesses reported the aircraft banked left immediately after takeoff and climbed to a height of 200 feet before impact. The airplane burst into flames after impact, resulting in 45 fatalities, including 57 confirmed deaths. The crew consisted of one Angolan pilot and four Ukrainians.
