A Cessna aircraft was parked facing away from the terminal building. A man ran from the terminal under the right wing outboard of the engine, striking the propeller and causing the pilot’s death before arrival at the hospital. Description

The aircraft was parked facing away from the terminal building. While the pilot was carrying out after start checks a man ran from the terminal under the right wing outboard of the engine and was struck by the propeller. He died before arrival at hospital. The pilot did not see the man who apparently wanted the pilot to mail a letter in Kirkwall for him.
