A Yakovlev 40 cargo plane crashed in an accident at Ust-Kut, Russia, resulting in the deaths of four passengers and three crew members. The aircraft carried 1200 kg of cargo, and two women were accompanying the cargo to Kirensk. The crew taxied out in a hurry, and the left barometric pressure altimeter was incorrectly set to a higher value than the actual, leading to a rapid rotation and takeoff prior to attaining takeoff speed. The crew retracted flaps and lowered the pitch angle during takeoff, and the altimeter was set to a value 10 mm Hg higher than the actual altitude.
