Description

The Dakota III aircraft was hit by fire from an unidentified ship off Normandy, France. The pilot managed to land in flames on the Merville beach. The 4 crew members were taken prisoner. The aircraft was also carrying four members of the Royal Army Supply Corps. Two were taken prisoner and returned to England at the end of the war, the fate of the other two is unknown.
